Brett Costello For some time now I have been hearing "There is no quality RnB music out there any more". The Urban Meltdown is here to show that there still is - but you just have to dig that little bit deeper. On this show we will be featuring music you won't hear on commercial stations. I am talking about independent releases, quality underground tunes, and big tracks from the US and UK before they get airplay over here. If you want to keep UPFRONT and INFRONT then the Urban Meltdown will be the place for you to be every Sunday morning from 8am!!!
Started off spinning vinyls with friends in my early teens leading to me setting up the Progressive Culture Studio in Northampton welcoming all DJs from the local area and afar. A few years ago I started to run local nights of all underground genres from Dub, Dubstep, Breaks, Electronica, Bass, UKG, DnB and everything in between. Progressive Culture, headed by DLs, as an organisation runs a youth club in Northamptons Eastern District and is soon to be opening a social club for the community. We like to promote all music from the underground scene and to give air time to individual producers and DJs to keep them jnterested and inspired.
At the young at of 13 I got into Rave just before it turned into Jungle / Happy hardcore. I got my first set of decks in 1994 and started to learn to mix & for the next few years spent my Saturday’s at Black Market Records in soho London buying jungle vinyl & meeting some of the big jungle Djs that made the scene. From there I moved to Eastbourne from Luton in 1997 and got the chance to Dj in some of the clubs playing Jungle / Happy hardcore sets in 1999.
I've been DJ'ing since Upper School and have been a Reggae Dancehall DJ for over 16 years playing along side most of the biggest DJ's and Sounds in the World.
AK has been DJ'ing for over 19 years now and joined the station in 2012. Specialising in Trance music, mainly classics and uplifting. Every now and again you'll hear progressive and deep house beats in first hour and definitely an hour spinning vinyl to close the show.
I have always had a love for music from a young age and got my first set of decks when I was 18 (been DJin for 19 years now) which were some belt drives by soundlab. After a few years I brought a pair of Technics 1210s
I started with a humble disco, performing to small audiences at weddings, and parties in Northamptonshire. Since 1999 I have been providing high quality entertainment for all ages. I have performed to audiences of all sizes working for some of the biggest night life companies in the uk, before retiring from being a full time professional dj in 2014 and becoming a sound engineer at Reading, Latitude, White-noise, corporate events and product launches . I then changed careers again to become a driving instructor when my son was born as the road life was not suited for family life,l. They life does a full circle and here i am again back on intobeats 106.5fm. Text me, Email me, and most of all dance like no ones watching...
Host Names - Daps & Supes Day Playing – Every Friday Time To & From – From 10pm to Midnight Influences: DJ EZ, Shortee Blitz, Trevor Nelson, Heartless Crew, Ace & Vis, Rampage DJ Bio Details: Daps & Supes both originally came up in 2001 through the UK Grime Scene as members of Macabre Unit, Xplicit Crew and IMP Batch, playing at Sidewinder, Catch The Feelin, Garage Nation, Casino, Fetish, Rush Hour, Beats to Battle and also appearing multiple times on 1xtra, Risk FM, Rinse FM, De Ja Vu and Manic FM. Both were also regulars at Grime events being held at Cabana, Bedford including the self-promoted ‘Rep Your Manor’ events that now go down in the folk law of the Grime Scene. Whilst both Daps and Supes were members of Grime Crews, they also joined forces with Shaq, to form Treble Trouble on Risk FM. As Treble Trouble the show allowed their personalities to shine and to show their true love for Rap and RnB, and even at this early stage, began to try and push the UK’s own RnB and Hip Hiop artists, both local and further afield. After both had ‘sabbaticals’ they came back with a bang in 2011 focusing only on Rap, RnB and Dancehall forming New Money Entertainment alongside DJ Slax and Slim Saga in the club scene. In the clubs, they were residents in the White room at Elements, residents for RUM Entertainment in Southampton, residents at both Buddha Blue and Cookies & Cream in Milton Keynes, also guesting at Delirious Ents, Strictly Bashment, Gifted Ents, many other Uni raves across the UK and also DJing in Ayia Napa at Black & White Club and in Malia at Lush Bar. During this period they also ran their own events Innuendo, Urban Education and Passout and started a show known as ‘The Lookout Show’ on both In2Beats and Jamrock radio, known as ‘The Lookout Show’ with the help of long-time friend and co-host DJ Droid, focusing only on the UK Rap scene. Both again have been on a 5 year sabbatical, focusing on their careers and families, but during Covid-19 felt it was time to bring back ‘The Lookout Show’ but now making it more around mixing different flavours of the UK scene ranging from Rap to Dancehall, RnB to Drill and AfroSwing to Grime. The show is also now has a lot more debates and banter about serious and non-serious topics on road.
