MassC aka maxthebeatmaker a Bedford based DJ bringing you a weekly show consisting of a 2 hour eclectic mix of classic and new hip hop, Rock, funk, soul, House and loads more each and every Saturday 4-6 pm.

I started out listening to electronic music back in Leeds in the early 80s, mainly listening to electro music on battered old copies of StreetSounds cassettes whilst trying desperately to spin on my head! I moved on from there to all things Old Skool, missed DnB as I went traveling in Spain during the formative years and it didn't happen over there, dabbled with a bit of Garage, and then House became my thing! When I returned to the UK in the late 90s, I landed in the beautiful town of Bedford and have been here ever since. My main musical passion is all things House but over the last couple of years have been revisiting DnB and Jungle due to the massive influence of so many local DnB heroes flying the flag in B-Town and I now love to play that too! Open Being has mixed various styles of rave on several radio stations including In2beats, Dose, Control Live, MKFM, UK’s Finest & Lab Radio. At Lab Radio, two years running he received the award for the best weekend show (2008/9). In 2011 he released a mix with Jot Maxi MC for the dubstep label Dubthugz. Together with Jot, he performed grime shows on radio and later in 2017 they released the Stronghold minimix. As well as the airwaves Open Being has spun tunes at various clubs, raves, and local festivals, including back 2 back mixes with Justin Hurst. More recently he has played deep house & trance at Wild Cow ecstatic dance events in Milton Keynes and live-streamed shows for the Conscious Buddy Community. In 2021 he put together the ‘Elements Series’ to touch on some of the rave styles he has played over the years. In 2022 the ‘archive series’ - 12 mix recordings from 2005 – 2014.

At the young at of 13 I got into Rave just before it turned into Jungle / Happy hardcore. I got my first set of decks in 1994 and started to learn to mix & for the next few years spent my Saturday’s at Black Market Records in soho London buying jungle vinyl & meeting some of the big jungle Djs that made the scene. From there I moved to Eastbourne from Luton in 1997 and got the chance to Dj in some of the clubs playing Jungle / Happy hardcore sets in 1999.

AK has been DJ'ing for over 19 years now and joined the station in 2012. Specialising in Trance music, mainly classics and uplifting. Every now and again you'll hear progressive and deep house beats in first hour and definitely an hour spinning vinyl to close the show.
