Marcy Joins In2beats with The Full Spectrum!
Mother, teacher and author, Marcy has always been passionate about education, equality, and representation. Marcy’s journey into education started early – teaching in Saturday schools as a teenager and running one by her early 20s. She went on to teach in state schools across London, Bedfordshire and surrounding areas for over 20 years, eventually teaching in the independent sector and becoming deputy headteacher and one of the very few Black teachers to reach a leadership position in a UK private school.
Alongside teaching, Marcy worked as a childminder, running her own home-based childcare provision for over 10 years. Seeing a lack of multicultural phonics books that effectively supported early reading, Marcy authored the Read With Phonics series, creating engaging Phase 2, 3, and 4 phonics books for young readers. She has also written poetry and conducted research on education and equality.
Now an author and childcare consultant, Marcy is bringing her wealth of experience to In2beats with her brand-new show The Full Spectrum. A mix of real talk on childcare and education – covering everything from ADHD to racism in schools and teaching kids to read – paired with a soundtrack of old-school R&B, dancehall, hip hop, afrobeats, and soca.
Tune in on weekdays as Marcy shares her experiences, tackles the big issues, and welcomes guests and listeners to join the conversation.
