As a teenager in the 90s, I fell in love with music in the heyday of mixtapes. (Shout out to Sidewinder) Every song felt like a personal anthem, Nirvana and the grunge scene was booming, Hip Hop was evolving and the electronic beats of Garage music felt like part of me. I spent hours in my room, headphones on, practising 8 bar vinyl mixes, losing myself in the technical abilities of the hardware. Music became my escape, my inspiration and the soundtrack of my formative years. I landed a job as a resident DJ in a nightclub at 15 and the rest is history.
